Mark Lampe is a finance leader with more than 30 years of experience across several industries. He joined the team in August 2024 and oversees Fusion’s financial strategy, supporting the company’s long-term objectives. In this interview, Mark discusses what it’s been like being part of the team so far and how his team’s efforts are supporting healthcare travelers.

Tell me about your position at Fusion.

As chief financial officer, I'm responsible for working with the rest of the organization on strategy and coming up with our plans for the upcoming year or years, depending upon how long we're looking out into the future. I also lead Fusion’s accounting, finance, and insurance strategies.

In your time here so far, what have you noticed and where has your focus been?

One thing that's nice about Fusion is that everyone here is very welcoming. They've definitely accelerated my learning curve of the organization as well as the industry. As far as my team goes, there is a super solid team in place. Frankly, I spend most of my time working in the area I find very fun, which is working with the team on our growth strategies.

How do the efforts of your team help support the healthcare professionals and medical facilities we work with?

With our strategies, it all starts by talking to our clients and understanding what challenges they're facing and then trying to come up with solutions. In a broader sense, we have healthcare travelers working with patients at facilities throughout the country. We have to listen to what they’re hearing and what they need to take better care of patients.

What does Refresh Healthcare mean to you?

It really means listening to our clients, our customers, and our patients, and understanding what they need. The world is constantly changing, which leads us to adapt to what's needed. We have to be open to making changes and finding solutions for the existing market.

How does your previous experience help you in leading Fusion?

I worked in a lot of different industries, including a lot of time in health care, though not necessarily staffing. You learn different things working with different industries including different processes and technologies. At the heart, there's still people, right? I try to listen to what the market needs, what those people need, what the team's providing, and see where my teams and I can help.

What has been your favorite part of being on the Fusion team so far?

My favorite part of being on the team is definitely the people. Everyone has been so welcoming, and it’s clear that their priority is helping others and being creative in how we do that.
